Explorer Total Construction Management Systems, Corp. Announces Pact
to Buy Ferrell Construction Accounting
October, 2005 -- by Jim McFarlane, Explorer Software
VANCOUVER – Explorer Total Construction Management
Systems Corp. signed a definitive agreement to buy the construction
accounting software assets of privately held Ferrell Companies Inc.
Ferrell, based in Lakewood, Colorado, provides software solutions to the
construction industry.
Explorer Software President and CEO, Jim McFarlane, describes the
acquisition as a “win-win situation” for clients of both Ferrell and
Explorer. "Acquisition of the construction accounting solutions from
Ferrell Companies allows Explorer to grow its contractor client base, and
frees Ferrell to concentrate on developing and marketing technologically
advanced document management solutions for the construction vertical," he
said.
McFarlane and Ferrell’s CEO, Jerry Ferrell, are both committed to a smooth
transition of resources, which is why a number of the core staff from
Ferrell will be joining the Explorer team. “These new Explorer clients
will receive knowledgeable and friendly service from some of the same
support staff they have been working with at Ferrell,” said McFarlane.
Ferrell is the third acquisition of construction accounting software by
Explorer Software in the past 14 months. In September 2004, Explorer
purchased the assets of Conac Software. In November 2004, Explorer
acquired the Versyss construction accounting software.
Explorer is a leader in the industry, developing and marketing
user-friendly and technologically advanced software solutions for
construction accounting and project management. Over 80% of Explorer’s
staff develop, implement and support software solutions for contractors.
Explorer is uniquely positioned to serve the construction accounting
market like no other software vendor can. With its combined specialized
construction management solutions, Explorer can provide industry-specific
software to heavy highway contractors, general contractors, specialty
contractors, home builders, sub-trades, designers and engineers.
“Based on our in-depth industry knowledge and over 20 years of industry
experience, it is easy to see why construction companies turn to us for
their construction accounting needs,” said McFarlane. “Explorer’s
construction accounting products provide tools designed specifically to
help contractors work effectively as a team and to complete projects on
time and on budget.”
