Explorer Software Inc. was established in Vancouver in 1984. The company develops, markets, and licenses Internet-based construction accounting application software to Construction Companies worldwide, delivering business benefits such as reduced operations costs, and improved project management.

Explorer Software also provides related services such as training, support and maintenance. The company’s application software product, Explorer Enterprise Solution for Construction, is a project management, accounting solution that brings together computer automation, wireless data, and the Internet. It is normally offered as a "bundled" Internet data solution. The net result is a dramatically more cost effective means of managing a construction workforce ranging in size from a small ten-person operation to large organizations with thousands of workers.

The original software, Explorer's "Contract Manager" accounting solution, was acquired from a large, vertically integrated heavy construction company. The company had heavy-highway, asphalt, paving, concrete, quarry, sub-division services, underground utilities, general construction, electrical and mechanical divisions.

The fundamental design philosophy of the software was and is one-time data entry and unit price daily job costing. Since acquiring the software, Explorer has released many revisions incorporating user suggestions, new modules and integration tools for third party products, while always adhering to the design philosophy.

Explorer is a leading supplier of accounting solution software for heavy construction contractors and asphalt pavement producers with installations throughout Canada and the United States as well as Costa Rica, Malaysia, South Africa and United Arab Emirates.
